amu is a Seoul-based techno and ambient DJ and producer. She is also the director of txtrs. - a platform dedicated to broadcasting Seoul’s underground rave culture. amu’s music relays experiences of dissonance and miscommunicative tension which are motivated by her personal experiences of physical pain stemming from fear and anxiety. Her music is intended to be haptic, leaving listeners with a sense of physicality rather than being interpreted and felt emotionally.

The motif across amu's first EP [Era] is the flow of water through space and time. The four-track EP, near twenty minutes long, delivers a cinematic experience.

The EP, constructed to deliver two ambient and two techno tracks, gives its listeners somatosensory experiences of water at five different spaces. The omnipresent nature of water is further emphasized with each track painting a distinct, watery scene: A person submerged within a pool of tenebrous water, a cave filled with glacial liquid, a sweltering summer mist, a deluge in an open field, and steamy droplets of water escaping a showerhead. Listeners are encouraged to close their eyes and experience each landscape, imagining each space, its sounds and its ambiance. A 20-minute music video was produced with the art director Ji Seyun, filmographer Kim Kyungho and dancer Choi Joy.
